Training midwives to make childbirth safer for Somali mothers – JHNP

Date: 15 / April / 2015 /

Most Somali women give birth at home without professional assistance. All too often this can lead to complications and prove fatal for the mother, the baby or both. Under the Joint Health and Nutrition Programme (JHNP), a professional workforce including midwives is being trained. By 2016 the JHNP will ensure that more than 500 midwives graduate from training schools around the country.
